KOHIMA: Abu Metha, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN, on December 10 visited the Media Facilitation Centre at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. The visit was done to assess and improve media personnel welfare who are covering the ongoing Hornbill Festival as well as enhancing media infrastructure for better coverage.
Metha met with DIPR journalists, journalists from Doordarshan Kohima, and several other private media houses to listen to their problems and needs. During the interactions, Metha underlined the role that the media can play in fulfilling the gap between the audience and the rich cultural heritage on display in Kisama.
Media facilities were a key focus during the visit, including the need for better facilities for media personnel. Metha called for a dedicated conference hall for meetings and press conferences along with a well-equipped media box to streamline coverage not just during the festival but throughout the year.
When it comes to promoting Nagaland's cultural legacy, the media is crucial. "We are ready to stand with the media fraternity by addressing their problems and providing them with all they need to be productive," Metha said. He assured that the government would respond promptly to upgrade infrastructure and provide the media with a conducive working environment.
Therefore, this visit is an illustration of the government's eagerness to promote effective communication as well as enhance media reporting at one of Nagaland's most prominent cultural events.
