Guwahati: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has gone into home quarantine after a few persons at his residential complex tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.

Although the normal functioning of the Chief Minister's office in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat is continuing following all guidelines, the residential office of Rio has been closed for 48 hours.

A few security personnel and staff at Nagaland CM's residential complex in Kohima have tested Covid-19 positive. According to sources, their Covid-19 tests showed "positive" on Thursday at the Naga Hospital in Kohima. Thereafter, appropriate measures have been taken after the detection of the cases in CM's residential complex.

A source also confirmed that the personnel were not CM's personal bodyguards. However, the security personnel reside inside the official residential complex.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been tested twice and both the results were negative. But, following the detection of cases in his residential complex, he is expected to be tested once again.

Following the detections, SOPs have been implemented and the complex is being sanitized.
