KOHIMA: Kivini Shohe, a renowned filmmaker from Nagaland, and model and actress Andrea Kevichusa have been chosen to represent the country at the prestigious Cannes Festival 2023, which will be held from May 16 to 27 in France.

They will be a part of the delegation, which will be supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Kivini is a well-known Naga filmmaker and the founding president of the Film Association of Nagaland (FAN), a collection of genuine, energetic cinema professionals headquartered in Nagaland.

She was the Jury Chairperson for the 14th International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala 2022, as well as the Jury for the 5th South Asian Film Festival in Kolkata 2022.

Shohe, a Governor's Award recipient in 2014, is most known for her award-winning film 'Oh my Soul' (2014), which tells the narrative of three Naga transgender people.

Her several documentaries, such as Under the Longfuru Sky (2018) and The Great Anghs (2001), extensively emphasise neglected stories, especially from the eastern half of Nagaland.

Andrea Kevichüsa is a model and actor from Nagaland.

She made her acting debut in 2022 with 'Anek,' co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, for which she won the Filmfare Award 2023 for Best Debut (Female).

Andrea has collaborated with a number of well-known fashion designers and businesses.

She has also appeared in editorials for Vogue India, Elle, and Femina, as well as on the covers of Filmfare, Harper's Bazaar, and Grazia.

The jury for Cannes 2023 is made up of an international team of great filmmakers and actors. Members include French actor Denis Menochet, American actress Brie Larson, Moroccan filmmaker Maryam Touzani, Brazilian filmmaker Rungano Nyoni, American actor-director Paul Dano, Afghan writer-director Atiq Rahimi, Argentine filmmaker Damian Szifron, and French director Julia Ducouranu.

Many Indian celebrities, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, and Deepika Padukone, have walked the red carpet at Cannes over the years. Anushka Sharma, the Bollywood diva, will make her festival debut this year.

Astonishingly, this year's Cannes Film Festival will feature numerous Indian films, including Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy in the Midnight Screenings section. Agra, Firebrand, and Ishanou are among the other films in the series. In addition, the festival will offer a selection of international films from around the world.
