Nagaland: First Full Fledged Cabinet Meeting Takes Place Outside Kohima

Guwahati: In a historic move the first full fledged cabinet meeting of the Neiphiu Rio led People’s Democratic Alliance Coalition Government in Nagaland was held in Kiphire outside the state capital Kohima, with union minister of state for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju as a special invitee. The move was made as a Government's initiative to take governance and administration to all corners of the state

The meeting chaired by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, deliberated on various issues besides adopting its ‘Kiphire Declaration’.

Kiren Rijiju later took to Twitter to announce that the meeting was a fruitful one and many significant decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting for the overall development of the Kiphire district and the entire state of Nagaland. Rijiju, who is also in charge of “Kiphire Aspiration district”, also highlighted the various issues that needed urgent attention.

Revealing about the government's policy, CM Neiphiu Rio said in a tweet that “Nagaland government’s policy is to pursue a vision of inclusiveness & take administration & government machinery to all corners of the state for all round development”

Meanwhile, in an equally significant development, the special cabinet adopted a “Kiphire Declaration” covering the aspects of good governance & infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture & piggery, connectivity, youth, and district corpus fund.

Earlier at the meeting, Kiphire deputy commissioner Mohammed Ali Shihab made a power-point presentation highlighting the development activities that were needed for the district.

The Central government had selected Kiphire district as one of the aspirational districts in the country to bring in prosperity and make it an economically-sound district in the State and in the country.

It may be mentioned that People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) coalition partners had decided to hold a full-fledged Cabinet meeting in Kiphire district as part of its endeavor to take governance and administration to all corners in a manner that was inclusive where all citizens and stakeholders participated in the development aspirations of the people.
