
MOKOKCHUNG: In a bizarre incident, faulty GPS navigation misled a team of 16 Assam Police officers into Nagaland during a raid, resulting in their detention by locals. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the Jorhat District Police team was pursuing a criminal in a tea garden area they believed to be within Assam’s borders.

Mistaking the armed officers for miscreants, local residents detained the team and attacked them, leaving one officer injured.
The confusion arose as the GPS initially indicated the location was within Assam, but it was later found to be part of Nagaland.
Following the incident, the Mokokchung Superintendent of Police intervened. A team from the district arrived at the scene and successfully rescued the Assam Police personnel.
Meanwhile, earlier last week, three passengers were following directions from Google Maps when their car slid into a canal after passing across a portion of road that had been washed out In Uttar Pradesh.
The accident took place on the state highway route between Bareilly and Pilihit. A man from Auraiya named Divyanshu Singh was involved in the incident. He was riding in a sedan with two other people.
Due to road erosion, the car overturned close to the Kalapur canal by the Barkapur village intersection.
