Nagaland Government Declares Itself As 'Oppositionless', To Be Called United Democratic Alliance

The political parties of Nagaland had previously decided to form an all-party government so as to solve the disputed Naga Political Issue (NPI).

Kohima: In a press release issued, dated September 18, 2021, the Nagaland government has declared itself as 'Oppositionless' and stated that the government will now be called the 'National Democratic Alliance (UDA)'.

The press release reads, "A meeting of the Legislators and Party Leaders of the NDPP, BJP, and NPF including Independent MLAs was held today at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima, Nagaland. The House unanimously resolved to adopt the nomenclature of United Democratic Alliance (UPA) for the Oppositionless government in Nagaland. The House unanimously resolved to reiterate the joint resolution between the three parties signed on 11th and 13th August, 2021 respectively."

This information was shared by the Secretary-General of NDPP on Twitter. The tweet read, "The oppositionless government of Nagaland will now be called United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The nomenclature was proposed by the NDPP President and unanimously adopted by the House consisting of NDPP, BJP, NPF & independent Members. May Real Unity and Genuine Peace prevail."

Previously, it was reported that the political parties of Nagaland will come together to solve the much-disputed Nagaland Political Issue (NPI). The People's Democratic Alliance-ruled Nagaland government has now been declared 'Oppositionless' after its opposition party, Naga People's Front (NPF), joined the government.
