Kohima: Nagaland Governor La Ganesan passed away on Friday evening at the age of 80. As per reports, he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on August 8 after sustaining a head injury at his residence. He was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state and underwent surgery, but his condition remained critical.

Confirming the news, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton expressed deep grief. “Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri La. Ganesan Ji. Throughout his journey in public life, he carried himself with dignity, humility, and an unshakeable commitment to the welfare of the people,” he said.

Patton, in a post on X, recalled Ganesan’s tenure in Nagaland as one marked by dedication to strengthening harmony, encouraging development, and supporting the aspirations of the people. “His leadership and ability to connect with communities across the state earned him genuine affection and respect. He always made people feel heard and valued, bringing warmth and sincerity to every interaction,” he added.

The Deputy CM further noted that Ganesan’s legacy of service would continue to inspire. “His memory will remain a source of strength for many. My prayers for his soul and for comfort to all who mourn his loss,” Patton said.

Reports said that his mortal remains will be placed at his residence in T Nagar, Chennai, to allow political leaders, friends, and the public to pay their last respects.

La Ganesan, remembered as a leader with humility and administrative wisdom, leaves behind a legacy of service and unity that will be cherished in Nagaland and beyond.
