Nagaland Killings: Inquiry Team of Indian Army To Visit Oting On December 29

Kohima: A team of Indian Army probing the December 4 incident in Oting which claimed 14 lives, will visit the incident place on December 29.

The team will also be present at the Tizit police station in the district between 1.30 pm to 3 pm on the day.

''In reference to Indian Army inquiry into Dec 4 incident at Oting, Nagaland, the Army Inquiry Team will visit the incident site on 29 Dec. Team will also be present at Tizit Police Station, Mon District on the same day,'' an official statement said.

According to the statement, it has been requested to share any original information be it a photo or video related to the incident with the inquiry team via phone, SMS or Whatsapp messenger at +916033924571.

The release also said the information may also be shared in person to the inquiry team at Dinjan military station in Assam.

The Nagaland government on Sunday had asserted that a committee would soon be instituted to look into the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the state.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on December 23rd and the same was attended by Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nagaland deputy CM Y Patton and NPFLP leader TR Zeliang, according to an official statement.

The demand to repeal AFSPA picked up after a botched-up army operation against insurgents in Nagaland leading to the killings of 14 civilians.
