Nagaland Killings: SIT Completes Investigation, Says Governor

Kohima: Nagaland Governor Jagdish Mukhi has said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the Oting killings has completed the probe.

"I am happy to say that the SIT worked at a good pace and has completed its investigation," the governor said while addressing the budget session on Saturday.

He further asserted that the government took tried its best to minimise the pain of victims' families.

In January this year, the Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane had affirmed that "appropriate action" will be taken against troops involved in the killing of 14 civilians during an operation in Nagaland in December last year.

''The matter is being investigated thoroughly and appropriate and corrective action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,'' he added.

The Army Chief had also condemned this incident which occurred in the Mon district of Nagaland involving troops from the elite 21 Para SF and called it "regrettable."
