

Kohima: Following the frequent raids and encounters by Security Forces on militants and terrorist groups in Northeast, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) held a meeting with the Eastern Sumi Hoho, Gaon Buras (village elders).
The meeting as also attended by frontal organizations Dimapur Eastern Sumi Union (DESU), Kohima Eastern Sumi Union (KESU) and Kiphire Tuensang Students’ Union (KTSU), The meeting was held in Dimapur. NSCN-IM stated that the meeting was a ‘call for sharing and understanding the political issue at hand so that the Nagas harvest the deserving national aspirations.
It meanwhile reported the Eastern Sumi Hoho leadership as having conveyed that “they are with the GPRN and will always stand with the Nagas.”
“The Eastern Sumi Hoho at the same time appealed for separation from the United Sangtam Region and to grant them a separate Eastern Sumi Region under the GPRN.
NSCN-IM also added that a “number of Naga tribal Hohos have become friendlier and better acquainted with the progress of the Indo-Naga Peace Process

On September 20 last, the Santak Army Camp of DAO Division and Assam Police in a joint operation arrested three NSCN(R) cadres from Halwating in Sivsagar District.
A joint team of the Santak Army Camp of DAO Division and Assam Police were provided intelligence inputs of the presence two hardcore NSCN-R cadres in the area. The team after preparing a quick strategy followed the intelligence trails and arrested the suspected militants.
Police sources informed the media that the arrested NSCN (R) trio have been identified as Youngai (39), Pendum (42) and Nang Sung (35). Police also told that all the three arrested cadres were residents of the same village, Mokokchung in Nagaland.
Following the arrest, Police recovered one Chinese Pistol, one magazine and two mobile phones.
The cadres have confessed that they assisted NSCN(R) in collection of extortion money and were actively involved in arms smuggling since some time in and around the region.
