Nagaland: PM's Economic Advisor Visits State to Fuel Economic Growth

KOHIMA: In a significant move aimed at catalyzing economic growth and development in Nagaland, Sanjeev Sanyal, a prominent member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Economic Advisory Council, has embarked on a pivotal visit to the northeastern state. The visit, characterized by the government as a commitment to uplifting Nagaland's economic landscape, has garnered considerable attention.

Sanyal, known for his distinguished expertise in economics and urban theory, serves as a crucial advisor to Prime Minister Modi and wields substantial influence in shaping India's economic policies. His multifaceted knowledge spans various domains, ranging from urban development to financial markets.

During his visit, Sanyal will engage in a series of vital activities aimed at gaining insights into the unique economic challenges and opportunities in Nagaland. These activities include extensive discussions with local entrepreneurs, government officials, business leaders, and community representatives. He will tour key economic hubs, meet with Phek town entrepreneurs, interact with the Nagaland Economic & Development Committee, and confer with PM-EAC members. Sanyal will also engage with officials from various departments, including Geology & Mining, NSDMC, Tourism, Urban Development, Housing, Power, Road & Bridges, Industries & Commerce, Horticulture, and IDAN, at Kohima. His visit will include a trip to Kisama Heritage Village, the venue of the annual Hornbill Festival, held from December 1st to 10th.

Sanyal's itinerary further features visits to historically significant sites, including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's last stay at a bungalow in Chakhabama, the remote Lozaphuhu village (one of the highest-altitude villages in Nagaland), the INA Memorial Park construction site at Ruzazho village, trekking along Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's INA route, and a visit to the World War II Cemetery in Kohima.

Highlighting the broader context of regional development, the press release stated, "The visit of Sanyal to Nagaland carries significant weight. Nagaland, with its distinct cultural identity and economic potential, stands to benefit greatly from strategic interventions and collaborations." This underscores the government's commitment to inclusive growth and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
