Guwahati: 50 more Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in Nagaland, which has taken the tally of cases in the state up to 330. Out of these, 141 patients have been discharged already, leaving the number of active patients at 189.

"Out of 312 samples tested, 50 new cases of COVID-19 +ve have been reported. 24 patients are from Dimapur quarantine centre, 14 are from Kohima quarantine centre, and 12 are from Peren quarantine centre", Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said on Twitter.

Yesterday saw a massive spike in Nagaland's Covid-19 numbers, as 69 patients had tested positive. 

It is to be mentioned that less than a month ago Nagaland was Coronavirus free but due to the heavy inflow of people, the state has become the fourth Northeastern State after Assam, Tripura, and Manipur with total positive cases in three digits.

The state eventually reported its first cases of the deadly contagion after 3 people - who had returned from Chennai tested positive on Monday, May 25. It needs mention here that earlier, a businessman from the state's commercial hub of Dimapur had tested positive for the virus, but he was added to the tally of Assam as he was tested and received treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

India has added 14,933 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the infection tally to 4,40,215 while the death count rose to 14,011 with 312 new fatalities in the last 24 hours, data from the Union Health Ministry this morning showed.
