Guwahati: Nagaland on Monday has registered 9 more Covid-19 positive cases taking the total number of cases in the Northeastern state soaring upwards to 177. While 88 patients have recovered from the virus, 89 patients are still undergoing treatment.

"9 new cases of Covid-19 positive have been reported out of 418 samples tested. 5 are from Dimapur quarantine centre and 4 from Peren quarantine centre", Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.

Yesterday, Nagaland had reported 5 Covid-19 cases, 3 from Mon and 2 from Peren. At the same time, 12 patients from Dimapur had tested negative. "12 more patients have tested negative of COVID-19 in their second test. All patients are from Dimapur and shifted to COVID-19 care centre for further observation & monitoring", Phom informed.

It needs mention here that Nagaland, which was coronavirus-free two weeks ago, last week became the fourth north-eastern State after Assam, Tripura, and Manipur with total positive cases in three digits. With the return of around four lakh natives from the south and north India, coronavirus cases in eight north-eastern States have spiked upwards at a dramatic rate.

Meanwhile, India recorded 11,502 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of cases to 3,32,424, Union Health Ministry data shows. The death count rose to 9,520 with 325 fatalities in the last one day. Of the total cases in the country, Maharashtra tops the tally with 1,07,958 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat.
