
KOHIMA: The 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival witnessed a spectacular cultural extravaganza as Sikkim, the official state partner for this milestone event, stole the show with some outstanding performances.
The Sikkim Cultural Troupe gave the audience a feel-good treat with its performance based on the rich heritage and vibrant diversity of the state, which it described as living in perfect harmony among all tribal, ethnic, and communities belonging to different caste.
Known for its unique blend of Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali traditions, Sikkim presented a series of captivating performances that celebrated its indigenous roots and natural beauty.
The Lepcha tribe performed Tusow Saa Tyangri Naapka, which was a reflective performance about the fleeting nature of happiness and sorrow. The show had a deep message of hope and resilience, inspiring the audience to find strength and positivity amidst life's challenges.
From the Bhutia tribe comes Denzong Charab, a spiritual dance, narrating the mystical origins of Demazong, sacred land of Sikkim, which is blessed by Guru Padmasambhava. It beautifully captured the history and spirituality of the region.
With added lively flair, the Nepali community performed Chutkey Naach, a very vibrant and energetic folk dance. Unity in youth and community was well portrayed through the dance filling the venue with joy and a sense of togetherness.
As state partners, Sikkim put out quite an eye-catching cultural display for their audience, which marked an excellent tribute to the silver jubilee of the festival, creating the needed bond of tradition and art.
