Nagaland To Celebrate 'Hornbill Festival' After One Year Gap

According to officials on December 01 the event may take place.

Last year due to covid the festival couldn't take place, but with the decline in the positive rate, the state will hold the festival this year.

Although it was formerly celebrated from December 1 to 10, the Advisor stated that the state administration would shortly finalise the number of days for the celebration this year.

Last year globally acclaimed the annual 10-day Hornbill Festival of Nagaland was celebrated virtually for the maiden time from December 1. Also known as the 'Festival of festivals, the occasion attracts the participation of 16 Naga tribes. This time, the festivities are being streamed online.The Hornbill festival also signifies unity and oneness in all aspects while exemplifying the vast cultural heritage and potential of the Naga youths through the festival. Most of the events are conceptualized, curated, and implemented by young entrepreneurs, event management groups, innovators and non-government organisations that create a 100-crore plus Hornbill economy which generates more than 8000 jobs and is home to more than 500 events held across six districts of the State.

A total of 3 lakh visitors, including tourists from abroad and other areas of the country, attended the 2019 festival, bringing in an estimated Rs 75 crore in revenue for the entrepreneurs.

From November 28 to 30, the state will host the International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the first time at the same venue as the Hornbill festival.
