Nagaland to Implement ‘SMILE’ App for Smart Attendance in Govt Schools from Feb 1

KOHIMA: The SMILE (Smart Attendance Management and Informative Leaves) application will be implemented across all government schools and establishments in Nagaland under the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) from February 1. 

In this connection, a notification from the Principal Director, DoSE, has informed all teachers and staff to mark their attendance daily using the SMILE App kiosk at their respective schools and establishments.

To facilitate smooth functioning, the Data/HR Cell at DoSE, Kohima, will monitor attendance data and manage contingent issues, it said. The SMILE App is being implemented under the Nagaland Education Project–The Lighthouse (NECTAR) with an objective to improve system and school management.

As per the DoSE, the app uses advanced technology such as facial recognition, time stamping, and geo-fencing for marking attendance, leave applications, and tracking their status. The DoSE has also appealed to all stakeholders for their kind cooperation and to contact HR Cell at 6909644519 for any issues regarding the app. 

On the Google Play Store, where the app is available for download, the SMILE app, owned by DoSE, is described as a “comprehensive solution for attendance tracking and leave management.” The SMILE streamlines the entire process, providing teachers, staff, and administrators with a user-friendly platform to manage attendance and leaves effortlessly, it said.
