SIVASAGAR: Temjen Imna Along, Nagaland's Tourism Minister, received the prestigious Damchao Dimbeswar Gogoi Memorial Samannya Award during the 35th Central Martyrs’ Day celebration on December 30.
The event was organized by the Central Committee of the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) and was held at the Sivasagar Girls’ College Auditorium in Assam.
Minister Along expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the people of Sivasagar. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, he remarked on the special honor of being draped in traditional Tai Ahom attire, which added to the event's memorable nature.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along recently urged for a swift resolution to the Naga political issue, which has remained unresolved for 27 years. He emphasized its critical importance for the people of the state and expressed optimism for significant progress in 2024 under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Minister Along highlighted the strides made by the government this year, particularly in addressing key challenges like the Eastern Nagaland People's Organization (ENPO) issue with a forward-thinking approach. He reiterated the government’s focus on development and empowering the people of Nagaland.
Regarding the ongoing efforts toward the Naga political settlement, he acknowledged the pivotal role of the state government and civil society, praising the Political Affairs Committee for its facilitation. He expressed hope for a cohesive resolution through the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Reflecting on the recently concluded 25th Hornbill Festival, Along expressed gratitude to the people of Nagaland for their unity and resilience, which contributed to the event's success.
He also commended the collaboration between the state government and its alliance partners, noting that their joint efforts are driving the state’s overall development. With this unified approach, the minister expressed confidence in a brighter and more prosperous future for Nagaland.
