On Sunday, a meeting was held between the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shantanu Thakur and the District Officials of Peren at the DC's Conference Hall to review various projects.

Kohima: The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, met with Peren District Officials at the DC's Conference Hall, along with Tribal Hohos, Town Councils, and Village Councils on Sunday.

The District Commissioner of Peren Hiazu Meru commenced the meeting with a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) projects and development works that are underway in the district.

The Union Minister was also informed about the challenges that occurred in certain sectors and was urged to provide help in the matter.

Thakur assured the District Commissioner that to ensure that the issues are resolved, he would provide full assistance in the matter.

A representation of the proposal to construct waterways shipping route in Barak River and the construction of an AIIMS hospital in the district was also submitted by the NZPO President in the meeting.

The representation of the proposal for the construction of a road from Mongleu to Khelma was submitted by the Kuki Inpi Nagaland President. The Town Council also submitted a representation of proposal to establish proper water supply in Peren Town.

Other representation of proposals include the construction of museum at New Peren Village submitted by the New Peren Village Council and financial assistance for the construction of a community recreational park and viewpoint at Kejanglwa Village submitted by Kejanglwa Village.
