Nagaland: Welcome gate of Mitelephe village inaugurated on January 6

MITELEPHE: Chief Conservator of Forest & Project Director Forest & Biodiversity Management in the Himalayas (FBMP), Supongnukshi inaugurated the welcome gate of Mitelephe village on January 6, 2025. Zachütuo Yietsu, pastor of BRC Mitelephe, offered the dedicatory prayer.

In his inaugural speech, Supongnukshi lauded the efforts of the Village Council, Community Conservation Area Committee (CCA-C), and the village community for successfully erecting the village welcome gate, which has been constructed 61 years since the village was established.

He informed that the project was funded by the German Development Bank (KfW), which is an assistance program for which the works are monitored carefully by the agents of the German Government, and that there were prospects for further funding.

Meanwhile, Pelevituo Tsochü, VDB secretary and CCA-C chairman, and Mitelephe delivered a brief report on the project implementation in the village while Banuo, treasurer, CCA-C, also gave a presentation. In his welcome address, Kethowelie Khamo, VCC Mitelephe, expressed gratitude to the Forest Department for assisting them in constructing the village gate, which has been materialized through the project.

The inauguration program was led by Medolezo Tepa, while Suohienuo Angela, catechist, Catholic Church Mitelephe, invoked God’s blessing. The village women's group, Thenupfuko, presented a special number, while Khasüdi Tepa, Head GB, proposed the vote of thanks. It may be mentioned that Mitelephe is a batch-2 village selected for implementation of FBMP.
