KOHIMA: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) on Sunday accused the Centre of "betraying" the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 and alleged "treacherous acts" by Central Intelligence agencies.

The dominant Naga group said that "elements of perfidy, deceit, duplicity, double dealings and treachery" had been planted by Central Intelligence agencies in the same manner when the State of Nagaland was created under the 16 Points Agreement.

The NSCN-IM, in a strongly-worded statement, said that the state of affairs on the ongoing talks "as seen today is a matter of regret as rogue elements are pushing around with the blessing of the Government of India targeting the destruction of Framework Agreement."

"Nowhere in the world had we witnessed such unethical political manoeuvres. Destructive forces are being sponsored by the very power engaged with the NSCN to bring Naga political solutions since the talk began in 1997 after signing the historic second Indo-Naga ceasefire," it said.

The NSCN-IM said that Naga National Political Groups Convener Kitovi recently travelled to Arunachal Pradesh to meet the Nagas of Tirap, Longding and Changlang and he was escorted by the Assam Rifles.

The statement said that the "confused bona fide" Arunachal Naga leaders wanted to know the reality of the actual status of the talks and requested Hebron (NSCN-IM headquarters near Dimapur) to update them on the actual position.

Accordingly, a meeting was called at Hebron on June 29.

However, some top political leaders, village council chiefs, the Gaon Burrah Council, Naga Hoho's Arunachal unit, the Arunachal Naga Students Union and some other people could only turn up at their own risk.

These Naga civil society organizations who could come to the Hebron meeting said that they are for "a genuine Naga political solution and not otherwise", the statement said.

It said that others who could not come were dejected and conveyed that the Arunachal administration, police, and Assam Rifles warned and stopped them from proceeding to Hebron.

"Such conduct engineered by GOI is more a nuisance than a catastrophe but it can be avoided if sincerity and democratic transparency are not stored in cold storage.

"Such manner of undermining Naga political issues resorting to the highly demeaning manner is the most annoying thing that keeps coming up at crucial stages of Naga political process.

"NSCN and Naga people will not accept toxic divisive policies to repeat the past blunder," the Naga outfit stated. (IANS)
