Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate Rs 4,127 crore highway project in Nagaland

New Delhi: Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Rs 4,127-crore highway projects in Nagaland. He will lay the foundation stone for the projects through a virtual ceremony. The government informed bout the same.

The highway projects pertain to a length of a total of 270 kilometres.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said, "Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will virtually inaugurate/lay the foundation stone of 15 NH (national highway) projects having 270 km worth Rs 4,127 crore."

The projects that will be inaugurated by Gadkari includes providing alternate access to Imphal to Dimapur, connect Kohima to the Phek district and Myanmar border, and improving transportation between Dimapur and other districts.

Neiphiu Rio, the Chief Minister of Nagaland will be present during the inaugural ceremony.

Earlier in October, Gadkari also laid the stone for India's first multi-modal logistic park in Jogighopa in Assam. The park is developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and the estimated cost of the park is Rs 693.97 crore. The park is scheduled to be completed by the year 2023. Gadkari hoped that the establishment of the park will give direct or indirect employment to about 20 lakh youth of the state.

Gadkari has also earlier mentioned that National Highway works f Rs 80,000 crore has been planned for Assam. He also mentioned that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have identified 12 black spots on the National Highways of Assam. Three of the 12 black spots were temporarily improved and all the black spots will be removed by 2023.
