GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been working actively to meet the requirements of its customers and provide the required supplies in time. In January 2025, NFR freight loading achieved a total of 0.942 million tonnes of goods of all types. That showed the steady improvement in freight operations being carried out by NFR.

January is becoming an impressive month compared to the corresponding period of last year in several key commodities. Cement loading was on the rise with a growth of 67.9%, fertilizer loading increased by 28.6%, and Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants (POL) recorded a rise of 4.4%. Other segments also recorded impressive growth, as the loading of ballast increased by 31.3% and stone chips by 46.7% compared to the previous fiscal year.

Cumulative freight loading at NFR, as of January 2025, stood at 8.671 million tonnes, 3.8% higher than the same period in the previous year. Consistent growth, apart from pointing to rising economic activity in the region, plays a critical role in adding to NFR's revenue streams.

NFR plans to introduce technology advancements in terms of service delivery and operational effectiveness. The emphasis on freight transport growth for the railway will make the economic face of the region even stronger by continuing to focus on the needs of its customers.
