One dead and another severely injured in road accident at Samaguri tiniali in Nagaon

GUWAHATI: A deadly road accident at Samaguri tiniali in Nagaon on Monday left one dead and another severely injured.

As per reports, the accident took place when the bikes bumped into each other.

The deceased has been identified as Jiban Basumatary, Principal of Kaliabor's Uluwani School.

The injured person was immediately admitted to the hospital.

According to the latest report by state police titled "An analytical glimpse on road accidents in Assam," Assam ranks 16th in the country in the number of road accidents.

The number of road accidents had risen by 15 percent in 2018 over 2017, while mortality rate had shot up by 6 percent.

48 percent of the accidents had occurred on the national highways while 26 percent of those had occurred on the state highways and other roads.
