GUWAHATI: Sanwaka Surong of Meghalaya, Pema Choden Bhutia of Sikkim, and Danube Kangjam of Manipur have been crowned title winners of the 18th Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2021, enthralling an audience from across the Northeast.

The models were named as the winners of a beauty contest conducted at the ITA Cultural Complex in Machkhowa, Guwahati, on Wednesday evening.

Mega Miss North East is Northeast India's largest beauty pageant, presently in its 18th year, and was founded by fashion entrepreneur Abhijit Singha, produced by Mega Entertainment, and marketed by Mega Activation.

Sunsilk's 'Dream On, Shine On, With Sunsilk Thick & Long' pageant was sponsored by Eyetex Dazzler, Radisson Blu, Sohum, and L. Gopal Jewellers, a division of Jagmohan Soni with locations in Christian Basti and Kalapahar, in collaboration with Eyetex Dazzler, Radisson Blu, Sohum, and L. Gopal Jewellers.

According to Abhijit Singha, founder of Mega Entertainment, there will be no runners-up for Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2021. Instead, all three winners will be declared pageant winners, with equal prize packages and benefits. During the event's grand finale, Singha said, "Mega Entertainment is happy to welcome the three winners of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2021 — Danube, Sanwaka, and Pema."

"They worked their way to the top, defeating 47 other contestants in the process." "We are incredibly glad and happy to be a part of this amazing experience," Singha concluded.

Pema Choden Bhutia, a Sikkim native, is now pursuing her B. Tech in Civil Engineering at Bengaluru.

Pema said of her greatest achievement, "This is a dream come true." Sunsilk Mega Miss North East is a platform that empowers women by allowing them to be themselves while also giving them with opportunity to learn and grow. It assists in the formation of a woman's life vision."

Pema wants to use her position and authority to advocate for the education of disadvantaged children. She also aspires to represent her state in the Miss India pageant. Sanwaka Surong, the youngest and most spoilt of five siblings from Shillong, is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Tourism.

Sanwaka, a twenty-year-old woman who has lost both of her parents, is holding to life with the help of her family. She aims to use her personal experience to help other orphans cope with the loss of a loved one and recognise that there will always be people who care about and support them. She believes that losing someone you care about should strengthen you by reminding you that they will always be with you in spirit, guiding you from above.

Her mission is to promote appropriate visitor behaviour so that the natural beauty of a tourism location is not harmed by pollution, congestion, and contempt for local people, cultures, and customs, among other things.

Mega Miss North East 2015 Jessica Marbaniang inspired Danube Kangjam, a twenty-year-old law student from Imphal, and she has wanted to compete in this pageant ever since. She has spent her entire life preparing for this moment, and she considers it a dream come true to be crowned queen.

She thinks that by achieving this distinction, she would be able to inspire young people and reach a wider audience.

A variety of sub-awards were also given to the pageant organisers.

Nishigandha Gogoi was awarded the Sohum Miss Trendy subtitle, Pema Choden Bhutia was awarded the Radisson Blu Miss Hospitality subtitle, Jyotika Boruah was awarded the Eyetex Dazller Miss Beautiful Face subtitle, Sanwaka Surong was awarded the Shoutout NE India Miss Tourism North East subtitle, Moyuri Deori was awarded the Pageant Times Miss Popular subtitle, and Ringjoy Leivon was awarded the Sunsilk Hair Hacks
