NK Mishra, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) official, has been appointed as the next director general of Sikkim police (DGP).

GANGTOK: The Sikkim government assigned Mishra the additional responsibility of DGP.

On Wednesday, NK Mishra was appointed as the new DGP of Sikkim. "NK Mishra (SK: 1988), now assigned as SDGP, Home Guards & Civil Defence, shall bear the important responsibility of Director General of Police, Sikkim in adding to his own commitments w.e.f 01/12/2021," a Sikkim department of personnel order stated. NK Mishra has been sent to Sikkim as a special DGP (Home Guards and Civil Defence).

AK Mishra, an IPS officer from the 1988 batch, has previously functioned as special director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on deputation. In February of this year, the Centre accepted NK Mishra's appointment to DG-level positions.

In November, Mishra was returned to his parent cadre (Sikkim).
