Sikkim Government In Talks With Bangladesh For Tourism Facilitating Centre At Siliguri

Sikkim and Bangladesh have deliberated on having tourism facilitating centre at Siliguri and a Bagdogra-Dhaka flight to encourage a lot of tourists from Bangladesh visiting the Himalayan State.

The discussion on these points took place between Sikkim Chief Minister P.S. Golay and 2 Bangladeshi diplomats here at Samman Bhawan on Monday. Syed Muazzem Ali, High Commissioner and Zahid-ul-Islam, minister, the embassy of Bangladesh had called on the Chief Minister.

An IPR release informs that it absolutely was mentioned that a tourism facilitating centre, if established in Fulbari close to Siliguri, would be an excellent avenue in order that tourists from Bangladesh might feel convenient to go to Sikkim. The projected center would be for the process needed documents like a visa for the tourists to visit Sikkim

Last year, the Indian government had raised restrictions for Bangladeshi tourists to visit Sikkim, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The summer tourism season of 2019 in Sikkim witnessed good footfalls of tourists from Bangladesh, as per the native tourism stakeholders here.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister conjointly projected for a Bagdogra-Dhaka flight for the convenience of tourists visiting Sikkim, the IPR mentions.

The Bangladesh High Commissioner enlightened the Chief Minister regarding the congenial relationship maintained between India and Bangladesh. He disclosed that there's no place for the act of terrorism in his country and that they believe a peaceful relationship with the neighbors. The will of reforming connectivity like road, airlines, shipping, coastal and improvement in 4-lane highway might permit us to travel in a car to Bangladesh and Sikkim, he said.

For enrichment in mutual relationship with different states, the diplomat said that Bangladesh and Sikkim will have to extend intensive relation and develop in several fields. He conjointly invited Golay to visit Bangladesh.
