

GANGTOK: The Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, flagged off the National Integration Tour, Buddhist Circuit, on January 27 at Raj Bhavan. Organized by the Trishakti Corps, Indian Army, this ten-day tour aims to promote national unity, provide the students with valuable exposure to different cultures, and facilitate meaningful interactions between students from Sikkim and their peers from across the country.
The tour, which will cover key Buddhist pilgrimage sites, will begin in Bengdubi and proceed through Nalanda, Rajgir, Gaya, Varanasi, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Sravasti, and Lucknow, before returning to Bengdubi.
A total of twenty students from remote areas of Sikkim, all of whom have never traveled outside the state, from Government Secondary School Karbey, Namchi District, will participate, accompanied by two teachers. Major Anand Mohan Singh will lead the group.
In a brief interaction with the students, Governor Mathur emphasized the educational value of the tour, noting that it provides an excellent opportunity for the students to broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
GOC, 17th Mountain Division; M S Rathore, Commissioner cum Secretary to the Governor; Shri Jitendra Raje; and other officials and staff from the Indian Army and Raj Bhavan were present at the event.
