The governor of Sikkim meets with PM Modi and talks about important
state problems. In Delhi, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur met with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi to talk about the state's progress and recent successes. The conference was one of several high-level discussions examining the difficulties and advancements in Sikkim.
The meeting took place in PM Modi's official home, located at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi. The 50th anniversary of Sikkim's statehood was recently commemorated. The prime minister was supposed to travel to Sikkim to observe the golden jubilee of statehood during the final week of May, but bad weather
prevented PM Modi's helicopter from taking off from Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. On May 29, however, PM Modi used a videoconference to speak at the "Sikkim @50" program in Gangtok.
Where Progress Meets Purpose, and Nature Nurtures Growth" was the
event's theme.
The prime minister stated that he wished he could be there to see the people's passion, zeal, and excitement firsthand, but bad weather prevented him from doing so. In his remarks, Prime Minister Modi pledged to travel to Sikkim soon to
participate in their celebrations and accomplishments. Additionally, he
wished the people of Sikkim a happy golden jubilee as they celebrated
becoming a state.
A sizable throng had assembled at Gangtok's Paljor Stadium to hear the
prime minister remotely. Mathur also paid a visit to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in the nation's capital on Friday. In addition to discussing topics of mutual interest on the state's progress, the governor informed the Vice President of several ongoing development efforts in
Sikkim during the meeting. There was also discussion of issues pertaining to Sikkim's infrastructure, education, tourism, and welfare of its citizens.
