Sikkim Governor, Minister Sonam Lama Discuss Operation Sindoor & 1973 Tripartite Pact

GANGTOK: In a significant meeting at Raj Bhavan, Sikkim’s Minister for Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, and Ecclesiastical Department, Sonam Lama, held a detailed discussion with Governor Om Prakash Mathur, touching upon key national and state milestones, including the recent success of “Operation Sindoor” and the historical importance of the Tripartite Agreement of 1973.

During the interaction, Minister Lama lauded the Indian defence forces for their exceptional execution of Operation Sindoor, calling it a moment of great national pride. He commended the dedication of the armed forces, acknowledging their crucial role in strengthening the country’s security and boosting patriotic sentiment.

Governor Mathur, in turn, appreciated the minister’s sentiments and extended his congratulations to the people of Sikkim for their unwavering support towards the nation.

The meeting also commemorated the anniversary of the historic Tripartite Agreement, signed on May 8, 1973, which played a transformative role in Sikkim’s political evolution and eventual integration into India. Minister Lama extended his greetings on the occasion, underscoring the agreement’s lasting impact on the state’s identity and governance.

“Today, five decades on, the state stands tall as India’s first fully organic state and a torchbearer in education, women’s empowerment, and sustainable tourism,” Governor Mathur said, expressing pride in Sikkim’s achievements and progress.
