Sikkim Introduces Bunjee Jumping At Second Highest Bridge Of Asia

GANGTOK: The first-ever bunjee jumping facility was officially inaugurated today at Singshore Bridge, Uttarey, thereby marking a landmark moment for the tourism sector of Sikkim.

The Singshore Bridge stands at a height of 100 meters and its length is measured at 240 meters. It happens to be the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second highest in entire Asia.

Work is also underway to transform it into a mesmerizing glass-deck skywalk, further enhancing its appeal as a prime adventure tourism destination.

Local MLA and Advisor to the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Sudesh Kumar Subba flagged off the event which marked the beginning of the Sikkim Rural Tourism Meet 2025 under the Sikkim INSPIRES initiative.

The launch commenced with a positive note as it featured three successful jumps, paving the way for a thrilling adventure experience in the picturesque Himalayan state.

Sudesh Kumar Subba, while speaking at the press briefing, underscored that this initiative is in line with the government's plans for adventure tourism while generating new employment opportunities for locals.

He emphasized that apart from adding to the list of activities that Sikkim tourism has to offer, this new offering will contribute significantly to the local economy by creating jobs and promoting community participation.
