Six authors from Assam and Manipur receive the Yuva and Bal Sahitya prizes at the Sahitya Akademi 2025.

On June 19, 2025, the Sahitya Akademi announced the winners of the 2025 Yuva Puraskar and Bal Sahitya Puraskar, which honor up-and-coming authors and children's literature talents nationwide.

Four authors from Assam and two from Manipur were recognized for their literary works in the languages of Assamese, Bodo, and Manipuri.

The Akademi recognized Binay Kumar Brahma for his book of Bodo short stories, Khanthi Bwswn Arw Akhu Danai, and Surendra Mohan Das for his collection of Assamese poetry, Mainaahatar Padya, in the Bal Sahitya Puraskar category.

 Amar Khungur Boro won the Yuva Puraskar for his collection of Bodo poetry, Ang Asur, and Suprakash Bhuyan for his collection of Assamese short stories, Kuchiyanama.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to congratulate the winners, stating, “Congratulations to all the four winners of the Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar and Yuva Puraskar in Assamese and Bodo languages.

These achievements will inspire the next generation of writers to turn their thoughts into literary pieces which will be cherished by all.”

Each awardee will receive a copper plaque engraved with their name and a cash prize of Rs 50,000, to be presented at a special ceremony scheduled later in the year.

2 writers from Manipur - Shanto M will get the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for "Angangshinggee Shannabungsida," while AK Jiten will receive the Yuva Puraskar for Epic Khoyum Nongdam Cow.
