Tripura, Mizoram police file FIRs against miscreants causing tension along border

GUWAHATI: Tripura, Mizoram police have filed FIRs against miscreants causing tension along border.

Tripura police have deployed security near Kawnpui village in North Tripura district to avoid any further disturbances.

Mizoram resident TBC Lalvenchhunga has filed a police complaint against some members of the Chakma community on the Tripura side. According to the complaint, "“…few individuals who try to bring communal disharmony between community living across Mizoram and Tripura border by spreading false information, rumors and hearsay in the internet social media by maligning other community without evidence at a time where the country needs solidarity to fight the pandemic, COVID-19 [sic].”

Anil Chakma, a resident, registered an FIR against Mizo leaders.

According to reports, a house of a Chakma resident was set on fire by some miscreants.

As of now, security has been deployed at Tripura-Mizoram border to prevent any escalation.
