15-Year-Old Injured in Crude Bomb Blast in Tripura

AGARTALA: A crude bomb went off near a school building in the Sepahijala district of Tripura on Wednesday injuring a school-going child. The state police have started an investigation into the matter.

According to reports, a 15-year-old student received injuries when a crude bomb went off near a school building in the state of Tripura. The incident reportedly took place in the Kalsimura village of the Sepahijala district of Tripura on Wednesday. A police official mentioned that the incident took place when some of the students of the Kalsimura school were playing in an open area located adjacent to their school building.

Taiful Islam, a student of Class 9 of the Kalsimura school saw an unattended packet while attending nature's call in the open ground near the school. The explosion took place when he tried to open the package, resulting in his injury according to the Superintendent of Police for Sepahijala, B J Reddy.

“A bomb disposal squad reached the spot and defused four bombs that were kept in the packet. The squad believes there were five low-intensity crude bombs in the packet. The forensic team and experts along with police are investigating the incident,” BJ Reddy mentioned.

The school authorities sent Taiful Islam to the Sonamura hospital from where he was referred to Agartala Government Hospital and Medical College for better medical care. According to reports, he is currently under treatment for burns and other injuries due to the crude bomb explosion.

A few days back, a team comprising of MPs of different parties had come to the state of Tripura to visit the locations which saw violence during the recently concluded elections in the state. The team had to cancel their trips as they faced attacks in different parts of the state which triggered a police investigation leading to the arrest of multiple miscreants.
