6th edition of Northeast Youth Festival from Nov 15

GUWAHATI: The 6th edition of 4-day Northeast Youth Festival will be kicked off in Tripura on November 15 with over 1,200 participants from across the nation.

On the eve of the festival, Tripura Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Manoj Kanti Deb on Tuesday highlighted that around 1,000 participants from Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura will join the mega festival in various events. The festival will be marked by sporting, cultural events including folk music, dance, martial arts, adventure sports, handicraft shows and others.

Minister Manoj Kanti Deb further said, “Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who will inaugurate the youth festival, had earlier invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MoS Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. However, due to their engagements in the five state assembly elections, none of them will be able to attend the event.” He speculated, “We hope all chief ministers will join us.”

Deb added, “The 6th NE Youth Festival would appeal youths to contribute to building a drug-free society.”

Notably, the youth festival is being organized with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 3 crores and aims to provide a glimpse of talents from northeastern states.
