Anger in Tripura Over Delay in Payments for MGNREGA Work

Agartala: Serious resentment is brewing among the people over delay in payment for MGNREGA work. The situation has aggravated as Durga Puja is drawing closer.

Reports from Sabroom, Kumarghat and some other places said that the local panchayat secretaries are in the receiving end of peoples' anger. It has created a delicate situation as the administrative authorities in Agartala are saying that necessary funds have already been disbursed but these are yet to reach to the panchayat level.

The pending pay has created a gloomy situation in the villages. Reports from Kumarghat said the local traders are also frustrated as pre-puja days are the main trading season for them and due to lack of money, people are not coming to the market.
