ATM hacking bid foiled, one arrested

Agartala: Alertness of an youth and prompt action by the police foiled a ATM hacking bid resulting in the arrest of one person with some suspicious equipment. Two others who were accompanying the youth managed to escape from the scene. The arrested youth has been identified as Sunny Baidu of Haryana.

The matter came to light when one Dilip Pal of Ragna area went to withdraw money from an ATM at Rajbari area of Dharmanagar in North Tripura district and noticed the suspicious activities of three youths inside the ATM booth and raised an alarm.

Local people rushed to the spot and nabbed one of them and handed him over to the police. It is learnt that the police recovered one mini scanner from the person and suspected that he was using it to hack into the ATM. It may be recalled that a large scale ATM hacking operation recently rocked the State where several lakhs of rupees were pilfered from few accounts. The police managed to break the racket and detained four persons from Kolkata. Two of them are Swedish citizens while the two others were Bangladeshis.
