Biplab Kumar Deb Points Out “Outsider” Influence in BJP Tripura

AGARTALA: Former chief minister of Tripura and current member of Rajya Sabha, Biplab Kumar Deb mentioned that ‘outsiders’ are now interfering with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organisational affairs in the state of Tripura. He also mentioned that the central leadership has been made aware of what is going on in the state.

While mentioning the interference from outsiders, Biplap Kumar Deb said that this was making the organisation weak.

“Some people from the outside were interfering in the organisation and I have already made the party leadership aware of the happenings in the state. We will run the party under the leadership of Narendra Modi and JP Nadda. The government and organisation must work in the right direction,” mentioned the Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

“You people are aware of how outsider interference is taking place in the organisation. It is making the organisation weak. I am not an IAS or IPS officer, but I know how to strengthen the organisation. It was my duty to make the party leadership aware of the outsider interference and I did it,” Biplab Kumar Deb added.

He also mentioned the reshuffle among the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of the state adding that it will be carried out after taking the senior leadership of the party into confidence. He later left for New Delhi in the evening and is not expected to be present for the state executive meeting of the party scheduled for Monday.

In a separate incident last week, hundreds of CPI (M) employees demonstrated in Agartala, demanding the detention of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the head of the WFI, who is charged with harassing female wrestlers. They also expressed support for the wrestlers, who have been staging a sit-in in New Delhi for the past 26 days in an effort to get WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh to resign. The WFI leader's arrest was urged by the CPI-M, which was led by Samar Chakraborty and former minister and prominent Leftist Pabitra Kar.
