AGARTALA: In a bid to reduce tension between the two partners of the state’s ruling coalition, the leaders of the BJP and IPFT has started organizing sub-division level joint meeting and forming co-ordination committees to solve all dispute locally.

They have already completed formation of such committees at Bishalghar, Sonamura, Kamalpur and Khowai sub-division while the rest will be completed by next 2/3 days, Pratima Bhaumik, state general secretary of BJP said.

Whether the parties could reach into a solution over the controversial issues of BAC chairman selection is not yet clear but both the parties has agreed to withdraw all the cases they have filed against each other following recent clashes over filing of nominations.

Pratima Bhawmik said the process has already been started and both the sides have agreed that development is the priority for them. They also agreed that infiltrators from CPI(M) are behind all the disturbances and warned the ground level workers not to step into their trap. She said they have decided that whatever may be the situation the BJP-IPFT workers will stand together.

The State has witnessed a series of clashes between the supporters of the two coalition partners during last five months. Firstly the dispute was over selection of chairman for the 39 Block Advisory Committee. The chairman was selected following an agreement in the state level but the ground level IPFT workers were refused to accept some of them and resorted to agitation and in some places the BJP leaders including an MLA also was attacked.

The situation took turn for the worst during the filing of nomination for the by-election of vacant seats of panchayats. As there was no adjustment supporters of both the parties went to file nomination leading to widespread clashes injuring at least 15 persons in different parts of the state.

This led to a meeting of the leaders of both the party and formation of a state level co-ordination committee headed by BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma where the IPFT President and Revenue Minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma is the vice chairman. Formation of the sub-division level committees is the follow-up action.
