BJP rebel members capture Tripura panchayat

Agartala: The BJP suffered a setback when the rebel members of the party got elected as Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan of Kuchainala panchayat in Kamalpur defeating the official nominees. Rubi Das and Gautam Das have been elected as new Pradhan and Upa-pradhan of the panchayat.

All the nine members of the panchayat belong to the BJP and Parbati Malakar, the official nominee of the party, was elected as Pradhan, but after few months, five members brought a no-confidence motion against her. As per the panchayat rules, a fresh election was held where they got elected.
