Agartala, April 7: The BJP has set a target of increasing its vote share in the next Lok Sabha election by 20 per cent compared to the vote that the party had polled in the recently concluded State Assembly election, said the general secretary of the BJP, in-charge of the Northeast, Ajay Jambal.

Addressing a meeting of the BJP workers in the State guest house here, Jambal said that in the State Assembly election the BJP had shown an excellent performance but the party should not remain complacent with its achievement.

In the last Assembly election held in February, the BJP and its alliance partner IPFT together got 52 per cent vote and won 44 seats, while the CPI (M)-led Left Front got 44 per cent vote and won only 16 seats.

Jambal said the Assembly election had proved that the people had reposed faith on the BJP and many have shown also interest in joining the party.

“Those who have shown interest in joining the Saffron party must be included in the party but cautioned the party to remain alert so that no anti-social element can take any advantage,” he added.

He also hailed the role of the Pristha Pramookhs during the last election. He asked the Pristha Pramookhs to go to their respective booth areas and to explain to the people on the development projects of the rendra Modi government.

The party will start Prishtha Pramookh conference in every mandals (constituency) where they will be imparted training about their tasks.
