Agartala: The newly appointed ‘Prabhari’ (in-charge) of the BJP in Tripura, Avinash Rai Khanna, held his first meeting with the core committee of the party on Tuesday and passed on necessary instructions for strengthening the organisations before the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. He also had a separate meeting with the office bearers of the party.

It is learnt that the State leaders including Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is also the State president of the party, apprised the newly appointed ‘Prabhari’ about the steps they have taken and the ground realities of the State. They also apprised him about the follow up actions to the instructions given by party president Amit Shah during a Pristha Pramokh Sammelan early this month.

Avinash Rai Khanna has been appointed as party in-charge after the visit of the party president replacing Sunil Deodhar who played a vital role in organising the BJP in Tripura and ultimately bringing it into power. Recently he has been elevated to the post of national secretary and also appointed as party in-charge for Andhra Pradesh.

It is learnt that Khanna gave a patient hearing to all the office bearers and advised them to implement the six point task the party president has given. These includes hoisting of party flag in the house of every karyakartas of the party, lighting of Mangaldeep, organising bike rallies in every corner of the State to propagate the Prime Minister’s message, etc.

It is learnt that he could not meet the leaders of BJP’s alliance partner - the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura - due to shortage of time and said he will have the meeting during his next visit to the State.
