Civic polls across Tripura deferred till February 27

AGARTALA,: The civic body polls of Tripura has been postponed till February 27. The same was informed by a notification issued by the secretary of the state urban development department, Kiren Gitte.

Gitte has also ordered the appointment of administrators to the urban local bodies, from the date of dissolution of these bodies. Most of the civic bodies in Tripura will end their tenure in December.

The 20 urban local bodies consist of one Agartala Municipal Corporation, six Nagar panchayats and 13 Municipal Councils. The charge of the administrator of Agartala Municipal Corporation will be taken by the West District Magistrate. On the other hand, the sub-divisional magistrates will look after their respective local bodies in the State.

The State Elections Commission (SEC) has deferred the general elections of the municipalities of Tripura till February 27, said the notification. (Agencies)
