Falling pressure causing problems for gas pipeline consumers, Tripura

A CORRESPONDENT

AGARTALA: Pipeline gas consumers in different areas of Agartala are facing serious problems owing to the sudden fall of pressure in the gas pipeline especially in the morning hours when every household needs it the most.

Recently the consumers of Old RMS Chowmuhani and adjoining areas like Kabiraj Tilla and Dukli areas had to face immense problems due to the low pressure of the gas supplied by the Tripura Natural Gas Corporation Limited (TNGCL).

The TNGCL collects gas from the Gabordi gas well of the ONGC which is supplied among over 36,000 consumers of Agartala town through the TNGCL pipeline.

It has been learnt that the ONGC gas gathering centre at Gabordi is unable to bear the pressure in the morning time when the demand reaches the optimum level and that is the cause for falling of pressure.

In last few years the network of the gas pipeline has expanded and at present besides covering almost the whole of the Agartala Municipal Corporation area is now expanding beyond that.

Due to the rise in demand for pipeline gas, the demand for LPG cylinders has come down considerably. LPG cylinders were perennially short in supply causing misery for the consumers.

However, this year the LPG cylinder consumers not face much trouble during the rainy season due to the regular supply of the cylinders and improvement of road condition between Karimguanj in Assam to Churaibari in Tripura border.
