AGARTALA: Abhishek Banerjee, the party's all-India general secretary, will campaign in Tripura alongside Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress, in addition to Meghalaya. A party insider claims that Mamata and Abhishek would visit Tripura in the middle of January.

The state may send out election notifications before then. Tripura will hold elections for its legislature in February. Political experts predict that Trinamool Congress will gain ground in Tripura if Mamata-Abhishek runs a campaign there.

The Trinamool Congress' Tripura Pradesh Committee is actively getting ready for the elections. According to Piyushkanti Biswas, president of the Trinamool Tripura Pradesh Committee, the Mamata-Abhishek meeting will take place in Meghalaya.

On that day, they would visit Agartala. "Mamata would hold a meeting in Tripura only after the poll notification is issued," Piyushbabu stated. The public is invited to the meeting. The Trinamool chief will also have a separate media meeting. At Rabindra Bhavan, he would later host a meeting with significant party officials.

There, they will receive direction on election planning and strategy. The programme may be held in the middle of January, according to a Trinamool source, though the schedule has not yet been set. According to Piyushbabu, the process of choosing candidates for the assembly elections has also advanced significantly.

On January 4, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will travel to Gangasagar to inspect the Sagar Mela's final preparations. An urgent meeting of the district administration and police was held at Gangasagar on Tuesday with the representatives of the relevant departments to finalize the preparations for the upcoming Sagar Mela.

This meeting was held prior to the Chief Minister's visit. The meeting included representatives from the Sundarban Development Minister Bankim Chandra Hazra, the South 24 Parganas District Magistrate Sumit Gupta, the Sundarban District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Mukhopadhyay, the Gangasagar-Bakkhali Development Board Chairman Shrimant Mali, the District and Kakdwip Sub-Divisional Administration, and other administrative officers.

The Chief Minister will visit Gangasagar on January 4 to assess the Sagar Mela's final preparations, according to the Sundarbans Development Minister. For the pilgrims travelling to Gangesagar, a temporary camp has already been established at Babughat.
