New Political Parties causing ‘Unrest’ in Tripura

A Correspondent

Agartala: As the election for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous district council is approaching, political parties are all geared up for the big date. But eyebrows are being raised on the activities of a few newly-floated regional parties. These parties are sending receipts for the subscription of large amounts to local businessmen, government employees and contractors causing panic in different areas. Khowai and Dhalai districts are the most affected.

Reports from Ganganagar block of Dhalai district have come to reveal that local political parties are sending subscription receipts of high amount with instructions to pay it within a specified date. Many people received the receipts but none dare to protest or file a complaint to the police.

The highest amount of subscription has been imposed on the local ration shop dealers and a division has been created among the tribal and non-tribal dealers with an aim to create mistrust among the two communities. They have charged Rs 20,000 from each of the tribal dealers while in case of non-tribal dealers it is Rs 50,000.
