New Tripura High Court Chief Justice Assumes Office

Agartala: Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on Wednesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to new Tripura High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Karol during a simple ceremony held at the old Raj Bhavan complex here.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, his council of ministers along with two High Court judges — Justice Subhashish Talapatra and Justice Arindam Lodh — and other senior officials were also present at the event. Justice Karol, who was a judge at the Himachal Pradesh High Court, succeeded Justice Ajay Rastogi, who was elevated to the Supreme Court in October. Justice Karol, 57, enrolled as a lawyer in 1986 and served as the Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh between 1998 and 2003. (IANS)
