SC students concerned over delay in admission

Agartala, June 30 : Tripura Scheduled Cast Co-ordination Committee is concerned over the delay in initiating the process for admission of SC students in various professional courses.

A delegation of the committee met the Director of SC Welfare department on Thursday and expressed their concern. General Secretary and CPI (M) MLA Sudhan Das said, “Every year after announcement of board results,SC Welfare department issues notifications for admission in different professional courses in and outside the State, but this year no such notification has been issued”.

Leaders demanded immediate measures for early admission of poor and meritorious SC students in professional courses including nursing and para-medical for their future employment. However, the statement said the director of SC Welfare has assured them of taking immediate step so that the SC students are not deprived of admission in professional courses.

In a statement, the committee expressing their concern over the recent fee hike in Tripura Medical College and demanded its immediate withdrawal and expressed apprehension that poor meritorious students will be deprived of higher education.
