Agartala: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced that that party has postponed all of the events in Tripura after the imposition of prohibitory orders in the state.

The prohibitory orders were issued by the BJP-led government in Tripura.

Earlier, the Trinamool Congress had planned to hold a mega rally in Agartala but its plea was rejected by the Tripura High Court on Wednesday. Senior party leader of the TMC Abhishek Banerjee was supposed to attend the rally which now stands postponed.

The news was announced by the party in a series of tweets on their official Twitter handle.

"As per due process of law we have sought permission from the @BJP4Tripura Govt for all our events, only for them to be denied repeatedly. This time they did not even respond to our applications and we had to approach the HC to know that S.144 was being imposed in the state," the first tweet read.

In the second tweet, the party wrote, "In line with the HC's decision not to interfere in policy decisions, we are postponing our scheduled events in Tripura. We will seek further clarity from the court on the limits to such arbitrary use of executive power."

However, a "Jogdaan karmasuchi" (joining programme) will be organised on Wednesday in the presence of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee.
