TRIPURA: Tripura BJP seems adamant to go alone for the upcoming elections rather than looking for new allies.

These leaders sought clarification in the Chintan Baithak that was held at a government-owned resort in Agartala. This happened subsequent to BJP MLA Burma Mohan Tripura crossing over to join the Pradyot Manikya-led TIPRA motha.

Santosh also mentioned that the issue received an "angry response" from the BJP National General Secretary (organization), consequently directing all the party leaders to constrain from political friendship with forces which may yield anti-productive results. Santosh directly pointed out to TIPRA, and mentioned party senior functionaries that the BJP is not on the lookout for new allies in the state.

The leader further added that the party must shift its focus to strengthening its own base rather than looking for new allies.

In terms of stat-politics he urged the party to be self-dependant while taking strong exceptions to the series of defections coming towards the party.

In regards to the impact of Burba Mohan's defection, a party source asserted that the forces active to weaken the BJP are sitting to score brownie points.

He further added that Burba Mohan Tripura did not make any considerable effort for the people of Karbook after getting elected to the state assembly. Even after being nominated as the BAC Chariman, he disappointed the people in both charges. The party has advised him to take rest already.

The party source also said that they know that Burba Mohan was in touch with TIPRA and Congress. When senior party leaders tried to reach out to him, they ended up to no response from his side. He concluded that they feel his desertion would not leave any impact the party.
