Tripura: BSF Foils Smuggling Attempts, Seizes Contraband Worth Rs. 24.48 Lakh

DIGYABARI: Acting on specific intelligence, troops of BSF Tripura on Wednesday, January 29, successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt in the general area of Digyabari, District West Tripura, along the Indo-Bangladesh border and seized clothes and firecrackers worth Rs 24,48,000.

The alert mahila praharis of BSF on January 12 successfully foiled a major attempt at smuggling in the area of Border Out Post Ashabari under the Sepahijala district, and a huge quantity of sugar and other contraband was recovered.

In another operation on January 11, BSF troops of BOP Gaurnagar under district Khowai apprehended 3 Bangladesh nationals while they were trying to cross over to Bangladesh. During interrogation, apprehended Bangladesh nationals revealed the identity of the Indian tout and Bangladeshi tout involved in facilitating the crossing of the border.

Meanwhile, on the 3rd day of the border visit of Panisagar Sector BSF on January 12, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, IG Tripura Frontier BSF, accompanied by Rajeev Vatsaraj, DIG BSF Sector HQ Panisagar, visited BOPs and border areas of Kamalpur and Kailasahar under Unakoti District on 11th and 12th January and reviewed operational preparedness.

“IG BSF was briefed by the Battalion Commanders on the current scenario. IG BSF also visited ICP Manughat and presented a fruit basket to BGB troops,” said BSF.
